THE ECLECTICA FUND - NOVEMBER 2004
Investment Manager’s Report: The Curious Incident Of The Dog In The Night-Time.
Lucky. I hear that word a lot. It inspires mixed emotions. I spent November in the Caribbean and enjoyed respectable returns and a fabulous climate. Some say I was just lucky. My grandparents had a dog called Lucky. They retired early and bought a houseboat on Loch Lomond. Visiting the pub at night was their favourite pastime. However, one fateful evening, they left the dog behind. Sadly, Lucky knocked over an oil lantern and perished as the boat went up in flames. With no insurance, my mother’s parents headed South to rebuild their fortunes. Friends and family rallied round and some clothes and belongings were stuffed into a large suitcase, which was tied to the roof on their car. Again misfortune struck.
