Hannah asked what happened in 2078. I told her I wasn’t at liberty to say. The truth is, when you come back from the future, the details are too sharp, too precise, too strange, people blink. That’s why I wear the goggles. They say I’m crazy, they’re not buying it. And they’re right. Because the future isn’t something you believe in. It’s something that happens to you.

Knowing the future is a double-edged gift. It glows and it burns. CTRL-ALT-DLT, I’m now downloading from the mainframe of tomorrow straight into my head. The file’s called, John Buchan, The Gap in the Curtain. A country house. A weekend party. Aristocrats from London. And a zany German professor, equal parts madness and method. Pure acid capitalism. Let’s unpack the wisdom.

An experiment is proposed. Mind games at a country house. The German claims he can train three guests to see one year ahead. No wires. No drugs. Just raw consciousness and a bit of madness.
