the video is theatre. me, in a car, in the kitchen, chasing a chocolate croissant and rambling through a chart i hadn’t yet earned the right to speak to. it’s messy. it’s lifestyle. it’s stage one. i keep it because it’s honest about how the question got asked. that’s all it is. that’s all it needs to be.

the essay is the answer. the full series. the math. the call. the line drawn on the chart with my name on it. it sits below in plain text and it’s the only part that matters.

read it. if the math is wrong, challenge it. if the structure is wrong, say so. i built it in public so it could be tested in public. that’s the entire point.

the video is theatre. the essay is dynamite. don’t mistake one for the other.

because the instinct is to narrate, to impose meaning on movement, to take a thin slice of time and dress it up as revelation. i did it myself. the intern was bugging me. i needed a coffee. i grabbed a short, ugly window of bitcoin versus gold, a handful of observations starting somewhere in the middle of 2023, and tried to read destiny from it. it’s what we all do when the market goes quiet. we start seeing patterns in noise because silence is unbearable.

but true wisdom is found in the long term performance of one risk asset class versus another. i should know. that was the trade that made me. gold versus the s&p in 2002/3. i saw it early. before the headlines. before the price. before anyone gave a shit. the emergence of a new gold bull market before the absolute low was even in. that’s the whole fucking game. not reacting. seeing it before the market has no choice but to reprice.

today it’s bitcoin versus gold. not in isolation, not in headlines, not in whatever arbitrary timeframe flatters your position. in the relationship. in all the data. in the ratio. in the long arc of pressure between two systems sponsored by very different tribes but doing very similar things.

and on that measure i wasn’t looking far enough. i didn’t have the full picture. that’s the video. a question. a car journey. a morning ritual seeking chocolate croissants and a post sugar high review on my computer screen back at the ghetto. i’m occasionally referred to as a rambler; guilty as charged. that video was stage one. it left me dissatisfied. i had to get my hands on the proper and complete data set.

you see, gold has staged a coup. it has largely regrouped prior relative losses. it has recovered substantial ground and reputation, stemming the hemorrhage bitcoin inflicted during that sharp period of ascendancy from 2013 to 2021. that’s what the data says. no more. no less.

but i don’t stop there. i never do. because the question is always the same. where’s the fucking trade.
