OK, this is random, but I’m musing from the dappled shade of my Venice, CA garden. I really have traveled too much recently. But holed up here, surrounded by the lazy hum of bees and the distant roar of the Pacific, my mind is growing curious once more about the investment landscape. The copper story is cute, with its icky supply issues and all this new-fangled electrification of everything and the renewable energy frenzy. But let’s not kid ourselves—China, in its relentless pursuit of GDP growth, unleashed a spending frenzy so wild it makes my supposed drug binges look like Sunday school picnics.
